According to Investigator Brent Rowan with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Latoya Wilda Ellis, 31, is accused of breaking into vehicles parked at two churches and stealing items such as credit cards.
Ellis is accused of eight different break-ins since April 17 both at New Hope Baptist Church and Flat Creek Baptist Church, Rowan revealed that some of the stolen credit cards were used at metro Atlanta stores. Investigators obtained surveillance videos from stores where the stolen credit cards were used, and those images were sent to the media to help identify the woman.
A viewer watching Channel 2 Action News recognized the woman as Ellis and called police. Ellis was arrested shortly there after and is expected to face numerous charges.
Rowan said Fayette County investigators are working with other law enforcement to determine if similar crimes are linked. Additional arrests are anticipated in the case
