Lydia Cotton: Single is the New STD

Lydia Cotton discusses the fact that she believes that many women are in relationships just for the sake of being in them, with no specific objective in mind.  She also cites the fact that having one relationship after another only rings up the number of total sex partners a person has during a lifetime, leading to disappointing outcomes when it comes to psychological and physical health.

    Plz shut up.

It’s true but sad.  The world has become a different place.  However, you do not have to become a victim of an STD.  Just know who you are having sex with.  If you have a feeling that this man or woman is messing around on you, then you should not have sex with this person.

Women and well as men need to protect themselves.  Marriage is a good thing if that
is what you truly want but if you are not really into each other and think that cheating is okay, then marriage is not for you.  .

She sounds very frustrated. But that’s what dating over the last 20 yrs or so has been. And it won’t change because a failed marriage (divorce) is too costly. Marriage used to be a necessity to have regular sex, make babies, live with someone, etc.. But you can do all that now and still remain single. So the only driver for marriage now is pure, true love. Pure true love accompanied by an extremely high level of respect and consideration for your partner. And those are all rare things. So marriage itself will remain rare.

Personally,  i don’t think there’s anything wrong with casually dating for fun, company or even sex.  Sorry if she doesn’t consider those reasons purposeful enough.

It’s a catch 22 type situation?  I think someone said the world has become a different place. Me, Me, Me society so values and morals are no longer a priority. Honesty is and has always been the best policy but that too is no longer a deal-breaker. People don’t even have to be married and/or in a relationship to have sex, so many don’t even consider these facts. People don’t take the time to get to know each other before sex anymoe if marriage is not an option.  It’s disgusting when you think about it as well as sad.

I agree with you.  If you really think about it, it is very very disgusting.

This is true all across the board. I have been feeling like this for the last 10 or so years. People are sport dating now and it is getting to the point that everyone should be in the game. And suddenly being single is looked upon as being odd or different. This is why online dating has become so popular. Sign of the times.
